Today I taught the first of the two watercolor workshops of this month , and it couldn’t have gone better ✨

14 people, a lot of focus, great energy, and genuine enthusiasm for learning portrait painting.

These two portraits, drawn with colored pencils, are part of my preparation for the upcoming watercolor workshops.

Even though this medium won’t be the focus of the course, it helps me train the foundations of portrait painting — drawing, notan, and color.

Every technique feeds the same goal: understanding the subject before translating it into a painting.
